Pilot Rock School Board selects Troy M. Jerome for its next Superintendent
Completing its search for a new Superintendent/Principal, the Pilot Rock School District Board of Directors is pleased to announce Troy M. Jerome as the District's next Superintendent/Principal effective on July 1, 2020. Steve Staniak will continue to serve as Superintendent/Principal until the end of the school year. The School Board approved the terms of a contract with Jerome at a special board meeting held on March 15, 2020.
“With the assistance of a team of staff and community, we thoroughly reviewed all the applications and selected several for initial interviews. From the initial interviews, we narrowed the field of candidates to three finalists. We reference checked the finalists and invited them to spend a day in our District meeting with groups of staff and community,” Board Chair Jennifer Gourlie said. “We concluded their day here with a second round of interviews by the School Board. Troy Jerome emerged as the right fit to be our next Superintendent/Principal. Troy has worked in our District before and we are excited that he will be returning as our next superintendent.”
Troy Jerome is currently the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for Pendleton High School where he has served since 2012. From 2010 to 2012, he was the Principal at Pilot Rock High School after previously serving as Assistant Principal for 4 years. He taught Physical Education, Health, Science, Training and Conditioning and Leadership for the Pilot Rock School District for 10 years. For other employment experiences, he has been the baseball coach at Eastern Oregon University in LaGrande, OR and for Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. For 13 years, Jerome was the head football coach at Pilot Rock School District and for 5 years the head baseball coach. Jerome has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Eastern Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from Eastern Oregon University.
