Hello ROCKET NATION!

Governor Brown, Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education recently released the county health metrics that will determine Pilot Rock School District's ability to open schools for in-person learning in the fall of 2020.

Pilot Rock School District will begin the school year online with a COMPREHENSIVE DISTANCE LEARNING (CDL) model. Based on our recent survey results, the majority of our families, staff and community preferred in-person learning, so I understand how disappointing not returning in person is for our ROCKET NATION. Although we will be starting the school year online, we are planning to bring students into our buildings as soon as the opportunity presents itself. Staff will be ready to welcome students into the building when county case rates drop and we meet the criteria. Pilot Rock’s reopening plans will be posted on our website the first week of August.

The current situation changes day to day; we must be willing to adjust our plans and remain focused on our commitment to strengthen the community through excellence in PILOT ROCK SCHOOLS. Staff will spend the remaining weeks prior to the start of school working toward creating a successful Comprehensive Distance Learning model.

Input and suggestions are appreciated, please do not hesitate to email or contact the school district. Check our website, app and Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.

When safe to do so, on campus, through hybrid models or in-person, our priority will be to build relationships and a sense of belonging within our classrooms through collaboration and commitment.

I believe that Pilot Rock Schools will be a place of excellence and character. Where a growth mindset allows us to understand the importance of developing lifelong learners and responsible citizens through hard work, good citizenship  and mutual cooperation through school and home….ROCKET NATION WILL BE BETTER WHEN WE GET TO THE OTHER SIDE!!

Go Rockets!
