During the 2024–2025 school year, the Pilot Rock High School Leadership Class launched a community service project with St. Anthony Hospital to provide weekend food bags for students and families in need. Thanks to the hospital’s generosity, this important program will continue into the 2025–2026 school year.
Here’s how it works: Families who could use extra food support over the weekend can contact Pilot Rock Elementary or Pilot Rock Jr/Sr High School to request assistance. All names remain confidential within the counseling department. Working with Mrs. Helen Doherty and a representative from St. Anthony Hospital, leadership students help order the needed items.
Each Wednesday, the Leadership Class packs the bags for all students on the list. The bags are then delivered to school offices and discreetly given to students before they head home on Thursday afternoons.
This ongoing project has provided students with a meaningful, hands-on way to serve their community each week.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have the continued support of St. Anthony Hospital,” said Pilot Rock Principal David Norton. “Their commitment makes a real difference for families in our district.”
As the new school year begins, any family in need of weekend food support is encouraged to contact Helen Doherty at
or call the high school or elementary school office.
